Avo Suspension Products
AVO Suspension also offer a unique blend of price and performance for instance the GTX coilover suspension provides high-end performance at mid-range price by combining inverted monotube struts where they are needed on the front and then using tried and trusted twintube design on the rear. The reasoning behind this is simple - MacPherson strut suspension due to its design places very highside loadings on the damper. This causes stiction and in extremis the strut can bind. This can be particularly bad whilst braking and steering at the same time, for example corner entry and is worsened by hitting bumps at the same time. The net result of this phenomenon is that the tyre sees a higher effective suspension frequency which results in a larger front weight transfer, which often then results in corner entry understeer.
The inverted monotube front strut design not only lowers unsprung weight, but also reduces stiction and the unit is much stronger and more able to deal with the highside loadings imposed by the MacPherson strut design. In addition the Monotube design utilises a larger piston and gas and a high-pressure virtually eliminates cavitation. On the rear of the GTX kit AVO use their tried and trusted twin tube design
